Giving Back – A Key Element of Bosasa's Work Ethos

All of Bosasa's activities are routed in a firm belief that giving back to the community is a vital part of our corporate social responsibility. Within the company itself, we believe that all of our employees are capable of improving their standings. This is why we open our state-of-the-art training facilities to each and every person with the hopes that they will one day become leaders within our Group.

With regards to our upliftment programmes outside of Bosasa, we have managed to extend a helping hand to communities across South Africa. This is thanks to our national footprint as a company.

The 4 Areas of Corporate Responsibility we’ve Identified for Giving Back

At Bosasa, we constantly work on uplifting South Africa in general, as well as our clients and personnel. These are 4 of the ways in which we do so

Offender Rehabilitation Programmes

It's important to all of us at Bosasa to give as many people as possible the chance to improve their circumstances. This is no less true for offenders who are currently in prison. For this reason, we have created our Job Centre Trust, which is aimed at rehabilitating people and teaching them valuable job and life skills.

One such course is our Offender Chef Training Programme. Bosasa has partnered with the highly acclaimed HTA School of Culinary Art in order to teach prisoners how to cook and to work in a professional kitchen.
School, Crèche and Orphanage Support

There is no better way to look after South Africa's future than by ensuring our children are brought up in safe environments. With this in mind, Bosasa's outreach programmes have focussed on sponsoring many care facilities across the country.

We also believe that it's vital for our children to receive a solid education. Bosasa therefore sponsors several schools, including a music school. Providing a basic education is a good foundation, but if we can also give the youth access to the arts, South Africa's future will be bright indeed.
  Community Computer Centres

In order to empower the people of South Africa, we believe it's necessary to give them access to the wealth of knowledge available online.

Each of our centres that have been set up around the country is kitted out with between 15 and 50 computers.

This means that thousands of people who wouldn't normally, now have the chance to learn using the vast resources on the Internet.

  Staff Wellness Education and Training

At Bosasa, our work ethic is strongly empowered by a desire to uplift and educate all of our employees. Our exceptional training facilities and teachers allow us to do just this. Anyone who wishes to learn has the chance to do so with Bosasa.

We also believe that Bosasa will only benefit from happy, loyal personnel. This is why we have situated our main offices at Mogale Business Park. Our employees are encouraged to de-stress on our Mashie golf course, or by walking through the tranquil gardens. We also have a wellness programme that provides career guidance and life skills coaching to all who apply.

Decision Making Team work is everything. But teams comprise individuals. This month I celebrate the individual’s role in the team, particularly in decision making. Decisions govern our lives. They can have a direct impact on the performance on the teams at work. We think we are making the same decisions every day but we do not. A famous study by Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman, who will be visiting South Africa shortly, shows that each decision is actually a comparativ... Read More »
