Papa Leshabane holds three main portfolios in the Bosasa Group of Companies, that of Public Affairs Director, Human Resources Director and Chairman of Kgwerano. Two formal university degree streams (and their respective strong theoretical and practical bases - that of teaching and human resources) drove his current mandate. He holds a BA and a Masters diploma in Human Resource Management. This led to an interest in systems, organisational and corporate talent architecture development. He also completed the University of the Witwatersrand Management Advancement Programme (MAP)
Papa has been with the Bosasa Group for eleven years. In this time he has refined the human resource department and its processes to enable policy design, recruitment, management and career path development of 5600 personnel nationally.
As media director, within his public affairs portfolio, Papa plays an active role driving the strategy of the marketing division of Bosasa - eKayaMedia. Twenty specialised staff support his communications strategy in this division. Papa has engaged aggressively with Bosasa’s online reputation management. From inception, he has driven a key strategy of Bosasa’s move from a static offline to a dynamic online brand. He has lead the eKayaMedia team, developing the company’s web site and online content management systems. Currently, he actively pursues outbound sms and e mail communication.
Interest in the Bosasa Group was evidenced by an increase of 74% new visitors in 2011. Over 55,000 page views occurred in the same period. These figures can be correlated to the positive rise of the Bosasa profile as its portfolio increased.
Papa has driven an internal trend of corporate blogging which has innovated Bosasa’s authority within significant industries. It has also made public the level of skills and competencies within the Group and its claim as a leading knowledge management company.
As Kgwerano Financial Services’ Chairman, he has introduced successful, high level turn around strategies. Kgwerano today has a national footprint in all provinces. Systems were streamlined with rapid response times earning the respect and accolades of the National Department of Transport as client.
Papa also drives more than sixty social responsibility programmes at any one time for the Bosasa Group. These run central to its ethos. He is responsible for building strategic alliances in both the private and public sector to better understand client needs
