Bosasa's Youth Development Centres
The youth development centres were created by Bosasa in partnership with the Department of Social Development to give disenfranchised children a safe place to go. They are designed for children between the ages of 14 and 17 who are in conflict with the law and provide a bed, food, schooling and experienced counsellors to talk to. The aim of these centres is to provide holistic development and rehabilitation for these ‘would be’ outcasts' futures.
These world-class Child and Youth Care facilities were initiated in 1995 and have spread across South Africa. Bosasa's experience in managing high density accommodation and our work with the South African Department of Correctional Services, has equipped us to build and successfully drive this network of secure care facilities.
Bosasa has always had a strong desire to help others to improve their lives. We also believe that offenders shouldn't be treated any differently in this respect, especially if they are children. We have various programmes aimed at both these youngsters and their adult care givers. They have been designed to teach these young people valuable life skills and help them to find a suitable career path.
At Bosasa, we firmly believe that giving back to South African people will only improve the future of our country as a whole. Providing our children with a solid foundation also secures South Africa's ongoing development into a first-world country.
