Zanethemba Safe Haven
The Zanethemba Charity Foundation's mission is to bring hope to those in South Africa who have none. It was founded in 2008 by Father's House Family Church to be the umbrella company for all their social outreach programmes. For Bosasa, a partnership with this foundation feeds into the core principles of our business.
Bosasa has many outreach programmes, which are aimed at providing the youth of South Africa with the opportunity to get more out of life. We’ve set up Youth Development Centres and numerous schools, computer facilities and care centres around the country.
Our partnership has culminated in Bosasa being one of the sponsors responsible for making the Zanethemba Safe Haven a possibility. This is a temporary safe care facility where we work very closely with child welfare organisations and the Department of Social Development.
What This Haven Does for South African Children
The children in care at Zanethemba Safe Haven are all there on a temporary basis. They’re placed there because they’ve been abandoned or taken away from their primary caregivers by a court order. We help to keep them in a safe, welcoming environment until a more permanent solution can be found.
Here are a few elements that the safe haven offers to the children who need a lot of love and care:
- Provide a parent figure – All caregivers are not only highly qualified, they also give their love to each and every child who comes into our facility. They have created a family environment to show each child that they’re wanted and indeed special.
- Make a safe space – It's incredibly difficult for a small child to live in a hostile environment. At Zanethemba Safe Haven, they’re given a space that belongs to them where they are free from harm.
- Medical attention – Many of the children at the safe haven have been physically abused or suffer from serious neglect and have special needs. We help them to ensure that these children are fed well and properly cared for.
The partnership with Bosasa, and other sponsors, allows Zanethemba Safe Haven to open our doors to as many children as possible. Call the Bosasa reception desk on +27 (0)11 662 6000 or email for more information on our various Giving Back programmes.
