Situated in Vanrhynsdorp, Heavenly Promise is a non-profit organisation that aims to keep youths off the streets. This initiative offers children from poverty-stricken homes a chance to build a successful future for themselves. It does this through relevant development programmes such as recreation, aftercare and homework assistance. Heavenly Promise’s employees are also provided with substance abuse training to help children who are trapped in cycles of alcohol or drug abuse.
Bosasa has been contributing to the success of Heavenly Promise since 2005. We provide the essential back-to-school kit that each child needs to encourage learning and education. All too often, youths become despondent about staying in school due to a lack of stationery and certain toiletries. Furthermore, we’ve donated a computer to the facility for their administration, as well as funds to cover a staff member’s salary every month.
We’ve also identified touch points that impact morale and well-being within the organisation. Bosasa has assisted with both the painting and up-keep of the facility, as well as providing valuable resources such as beds, linen, pillows and blankets. This means that any child who can’t go home or needs to remain at the organisation for an afternoon will have a safe place to sleep. This is a critical support mechanism for many of the area’s youths.
