The Teddy Bear Clinic
The Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children in Gauteng was started in 1986 as a response to an urgent need for medical examinations to be done on sexually abused children. It's a non-profit organisation that works tirelessly to ensure that abused children are protected, while they receive the therapy and love they need to recover.
This clinic doesn't just deal with abused children. It also works with parents and the community at large to provide them with the appropriate skills to identify and put a stop to abuse. The clinic also has a programme that reaches out to schools and provides teachers and learners with the abilities to prevent abuse.
Recently, some of the clinic facilities underwent renovations in order to make them a warmer, more welcoming environment. As Bosasa cares very much for the protection and care of South African children, we were eager to sponsor some of the construction work at certain facilities.
