The Bosasa Youth Centre Network
In terms of technology and opportunities, the youth of today could face a very bright future. However, they must first make it through their childhood with a decent education and overcome several obstacles such as poverty and violence in their community or home.
In order to help combat these obstacles, we have built various computer centres across South Africa as part of the Bosasa Youth Centre Network. This programme is aimed at improving the lives of underprivileged children by:
- Giving them the chance to learn basic computer skills, such as typing, finding information online and using essential software programmes
- Providing access to the extraordinary wealth of information that's available online
Both of these points can help these children to improve their education, as well as give them valuable skills for the 21st century. These computer centres have also been set up using the latest technology and software.
Most of these centres have been built in high schools, because we believe that it's vital for teenagers today to know how to use a computer. However, this doesn't mean that the broader community misses out. They too have the opportunity to access these computer facilities and gain the valuable skills they need to connect them back to the technological world.
