Bosasa Aviation Security taking off Nationally
Sebenza is a bustling mix of industrial neighbourhood and a community of business offices in the heart of Isando, Kempton Park. Being just a stone’s throw away from O.R Tambo International, it was a choice location for Bosasa Security offices. Sylvester Simelane, Bosasa Security director of operations at ACSA shares his intimate insights of aviation security with well managed circumspection. “There is strategic importance in everything we do. Even as we set up new offices, we do it with a purpose in mind,” says he.
Bosasa Security has diligently provided a range of risk management services to ACSA at O.R Tambo International over a period of 8 years. The relationship between the two organisations has grown into a solid one. But Sylvester looks cautiously beyond the horizon. Into the future he sees growth. In his expansion plans he seeks “to bring on board more knowledgeable people” in the aviation sector.
He says: “Aviation security is a highly specialised and regulated field because we operate in National Key Points (NKP) areas. We have to comply with regulatory requirements, among others, ICAO, IATA and SACAA. For this reason, we need the right people in the right positions.”
Bosasa Security Offices - Near OR Tambo International
ACSA manages 10 airports in South Africa with a few others dotted around the world. Until recently, Bosasa Security has operated only in O.R Tambo International. Sylvester observes with intuitive attention, saying: “This meant there was an opportunity for us to grow into other ACSA airports on the back of our proven track record and our relationship which we have carefully nurtured.”
He adds, “Now that we’ve completed our expansion into other ACSA airports, this office is our command centre for Bosasa Aviation Security.”
The building which has become Bosasa Security’s new home looked nothing like any of Bosasa buildings. The eKaya Media design and signage team stepped in and branded it with a Bosasa corporate identity both inside and out. The signage team adorned the interior with clip-framed posters that bear compliance policies and standard operating procedures (SOP) presented in a delightful style of design. The signage team also glazed windows with sandblasted vinyl. While the exterior wall posed a challenge due to its rustic, uneven surfaces, Gillis Koen, the signage coordinator and his team still managed to pin appropriate chromadek signage to the wall.
Looking up with satisfaction, Gillis says, “4 days of installations, the signage gives this building new life.” Well, it is signage which gives Bosasa its omnipresence. Bosasa Security has found a new home where it will continue to lead with innovation, expert solutions and rapid response to emerging challenges in the aviation sector. Now neighbouring businesses will have reason to pause and take notice. Bosasa is in the ‘hood!
